Pharmacy Services & Patient Recruitment

Pharmacy Services – Direct-to-Patient IMP Dispensing for Enhanced Clinical Trial Accessibility

At PHOENIX Clinical Trial Services (CTS), we are committed to advancing clinical research with a strong emphasis on patient care, convenience, and accessibility. Our Direct-to-Patient Investigational Medicinal Product (IMP) Dispensing model redefines how participants engage with clinical trials—making access to medications and supportive treatments more convenient, safer, and tailored to individual needs.

We offer three flexible dispensing channels to meet the diverse needs of trial participants:

  1. PHOENIX Pharmacies – Over 4,000 owned and franchise pharmacies across Europe.
  2. Hospitals served by PHOENIX – Ensuring continuity of care within clinical settings.
  3. Homecare Partner Network – Direct-to-home delivery for participants with mobility or geographic limitations.

Supported by Europe’s largest pharmacy network—including 17,500 partner pharmacies—we ensure the secure and seamless delivery of IMPs, medical supplies, and treatments for side effects. This decentralized approach promotes treatment adherence and supports participant retention—both critical for generating high-quality clinical data. By minimizing the need for frequent site visits, we help participants remain engaged in their trial journey while receiving the care they deserve.

Pharmacy-Powered Patient Recruitment for Clinical Trials

Patient Recruitment

At PHOENIX Clinical Trial Services (CTS), we harness the strength of our extensive pharmacy network to support innovative and patient-centric clinical trial recruitment. With over 3,300 owned pharmacies, 700 franchise pharmacies and 17,500 partner pharmacies across Europe, we are uniquely positioned to connect clinical research with everyday healthcare.

Pharmacists play a pivotal role in identifying potential trial participants through:

  • Health-related consultations
  • Analysis of purchasing behavior
  • Clinical trial awareness campaigns

Once a patient provides written consent, our pharmacists initiate the recruitment process by:

  • Completing a screening questionnaire co-developed with the CRO
  • Collecting initial health data directly at the pharmacy
  • Conducting pre-screening through a combination of consultations and health measurements

This approach enables efficient and targeted recruitment, reaching individuals who may not otherwise engage with clinical research—while maintaining high standards of data quality and patient care.

Coordinated Care for Seamless Trials

As part of PHOENIX’s comprehensive Clinical Trial Management framework, our pharmacy services are closely integrated with other key offerings—such as Direct-to-Patient delivery, health monitoring, and patient recruitment. This coordinated approach ensures that every step of the treatment journey is streamlined, from initial medication access to ongoing support and data collection. By aligning logistics, patient care, and trial operations, we help sponsors achieve smoother trials and better outcomes.
